  2. Q: What are some of the difficulties a cell faces as it increases in size? A: 1.The larger a cell becomes, the more demands the cell places on its DNA. In addition, 2.a larger cell is less efficient in moving nutrients and waste materials across the cell membrane.

  3. Limits to cell size • Information overload (DNA) • Exchanging materials • Ratio of surface area to volume (like traffic problems)

  4. Cell Division- divides into two new daughter cells

  5. 2 ways a cell reproduces: • Asexual-genetically identical offspring from single parent. (ex: budding)

  6. Sexual Reproduction- 2 parents & inherit some of their genetic info. Leads to more Genetic Variation

  7. Asexual Good for single cells. Can happen quickly. Bad if environment changes. Sexual Provides genetic diversity. Takes time to find a mate. If environment changes, offspring may survive. Comparing
