  1. 308th / 63rd Mission Briefing 31 January 2009 1900 PST

  2. Mission Overview HQ Intelligence is getting some electronic signals that do not make any sense. Command is starting to believe that the North Koreans may have landed some forces on the large islands between Pusan and Japan. A joint force from the 63rd and 308th Virtual Fighter Squadrons has been tasked with identifying these signals and determining what kind of threat they pose.

  3. Mission Details A 3 4-ship package will take off from Punsan and fly south to the islands off the coast of South Korea. Once there, the 3 flights will separate to the north, middle and south portions of the island chain in order to identify the threats located there. If the suspected targets are deemed to be a threat to US forces operating in either South Korea or Japan, all flights are cleared to engage and destroy them. Use all available weapons at your disposal while maintaining a safe flight envelope. There are no SAR operations in the area, so it will be a long, cold swim home.

  4. Flight Plan

  5. Surface Threats Intel has no indication of surface threats to the package. They are cautioning the flights to keep an eye out for ground fire and personnel launched SAMs. If there are enemy infantry or tank units in the area as is suspected, they may include AAA and MANPADS

  6. Air Threats A DPRK carrier fleet is operating nearby, but US Intel is unsure of their battle readiness. If there are air threats for this flight, they will most likely be Naval SU-31s.

  7. Flights Game Plan Flight leads will brief their flights prior to stepping to the jets Flights and Elements should concentrate on air deconfliction and plan their specific flight plans accordingly; we will be operating in a tight space and mid-air collisions are a definite possibility The major focus of this mission is to recon the target area and report back to Intel with specifics on anything spotted If fired upon, flights are authorized to return fire to neutralize the threat Do not escalate this into a full scale war! Neutralize the threats, gather the intelligence requested, and return to base

  8. 308th / 63rd Mission Briefing Good Luck and let’s get everyone home safe!
