3. ICHIRO IN PINSTRIPES Ichiro Suzuki after spending 10.5 years with the Seattle Mariners has been traded to the New York Yankees. Ichiro for the first time in his eleven year career will play in a different uniform. Ichrio came over to Seattle in 2001 from the NPB Orix Blue Wave many people had doubts because no Japanese position player had had an MLB career. Ichiro quickly proved many disbelievers wrong. Ichiro wrack up 242 hits including 34 doubles 8 triples and 8 home runs he stole 56 bases and hits 69 RBI’s witch would earn him the AL MVP and ROY award. Over the next 10 seasons Ichiro had 200 plus hits breaking a record for most season consecutively with 200 plus hits and tied Pete Roses record for most 200 hits seasons. In 2004 Ichiro surprised the world again finishing the season with 262 hits which broke a league record set by George Sisler in 1920. Suzuki would also be the first person in an MLB all star game to hit an inside the park home run. Ichiro became a Seattle Icon and will be missed deeply a 10 time gold glover, 10 time all star, 3 time silver slugger, 2001 AL MVP, 2001 AL rookie of the year and also was the fastest player to 1,000 hits and the 2nd fastest person to 2,000 hits. 5. MLS ALL STAR GAME 3-2 The MLS All Star game is here vs. the London champions Chelsea FC in Philadelphia at PPL Park. In the 21st minute Thierry Henry gets a through ball he meets it down the edge of the 18 yard box then sends a cross towards Wondo he tries to hit it with his back font but it take a weird deflection and bounces strait down at the 6 Wondolowski reacts quickly and down strikes the ball as it bounces past a diving PetrČechand the MLS goes up 1-NIL. In the 32 minute Chelsea wins a corner and sends a cross to a wide open John Terry in the Box he heads it upper post as it curves perfectly into the upper left hand corner 1-1 with equalizer. In the 58th minute Ramires from the right side of the box sends a cross towards the back post past a diving Dan Kennedy and about three defenders towards Lampard he sticks his foot out and half volleys the ball as it bounces into the empty net as the defenders slide trying to recover 2-1 Chelsea. If I’m honest the MLS are not done yet a long ball from the back it played up and received by De Rosario he dribbles to the end line holds the ball and then sends a drop to Pontius his DC teammate at the penalty spot and he sends a onetime shot on the ground hard past Petr Čech trying to use his feet at the near post Pontius the equalizer. We go to penalty time Eddie Johnson gets a ball 20 yards out surrounded by 3 defenders and he runs around all of them then sends a shot far post that deflects and goes near post instead Čech can’t readjust and it fly’s into the corner of the net Johnson with your game winner the MLS All stars win for the first time in 5 years. 6. Mariners v rays 2-1 The Seattle Mariner looking to win there first series vs. Tampa since 2010, they send Blake Bevan to the hill to fend off Matt Moore. Top one Wells up he hits a bouncer into the gap as it hops over the fence the Rays catch a break next batter Ichiro hits a sharp grounder back to Moore he throws out Wells heading to 3rd. Then Montero comes up and Ichiro puts on a one man show he steals 2nd then steals 3rd then Montero hits a bullet into the gap Ichiro scores and it’s 1-0 Seattle out in front. Bottom of the frame the Rays answer back 2 outs no one on Zobrist doubles then Joyce singles back up the pipe Zobrist scores it’s 1-1. Top 2 Saunders singles on a bunt down the first base line as he shows off his wheels. Next batter Figgins up first pitch he watches as Saunders speeds into 2nd base then Figgins swings and misses at the change and he gone. Next batter Ryan and he hits a bullet down the left field an absolute laser Saunders scores easy big double for Ryan 2-1 M’s and that was all the scoring as the M’s turned it over to Bevan and he was lights out. 8 innings 4 hits one run all earned no walks and 5 K’s. Moore also gave a stellar performance but his team unable to swing the lumber Moore 8 innings of 5 hit 2 run 7 K no walk ball but gets the lose as the M’s take 2 out of 3 from the Rays.

7. YANKEES V MARINERS 4-1 The Seattle Mariners looking to remain hot against the strong Bronx Bombers. Ichiro Suzuki normally in Mariner blue will were Yankee pinstripes for this series as he was traded just 3 hours before the game. Top 3 now one out Ichiro strolls up to the plate he gets a massive standing ovation he bows towards the fans tips his cap then steps in to face his ex-teammate Kevin Millwood. The pitch to Ichiro swung on and slaps this one back up the middle for a base knock, then Ichiro would swipe 2nd but the M’s would go unharmed. Bottom 3 still tied up at Zero not anymore Ackley walks then he steals 2nd Jaso still up he hits a hot shot grounder past Tex the Rex sheria at 1st , Ackley is rounding 3rd heading home Ichiro’s throw is money but not in time run scores 1-0 C-attle. Top 4 A-Rod up he doubles then Cano walks then Teixeira hits liner down the line into the corner. Rodriguez scores Pugero gets it in Cano held at 3rd a Double for Tex. Then next batter Ibanez he hits a linear over the head of Ryan and into left Cano scores Teixeira is held up 2-0 New York. Then next batter Jones he hits a grounder up the middle Teixeira scores 3-0 Yanks. Top 8 Rodriguez up he Delabar on the mound he throws a fastball low and inside and some how some way A-Rod drives this one to deep left center and it leaves the ball yard 4-1 Bombers. And that would be the game Kuroda tossed a gem for the Yanks 7 innings just the one run one walk and 9 K’s. As the M’s fall 4-1 final.

8. YANKEES V MARINRES 2-4 Felix Hernandez takes the mound for the M’s he has outstanding number vs. the Yankees in his career trying to continue those in this start. Top 1 no out the Granderson up and the Grandyman can he hits a screamer on a melon over the heart of the plate and he leaves the yard 1-0 Yanks. Bottom 1 Saunders up one down vs. Freddy Garcia Felix’s idol. Saunders swing at a fastball high over the middle of the plate and he crushes it Ichiro watches this one leave the yard as Saunders ties this one up 1-1 after 1. Bottom 3 after a Ryan single a fly out and a single by Saunders there are runners on the corner for Jesus Montero. He’s gowning opposite field it drops in Ichiro fields and fires towards 3rd. Saunders in though standing up. Next batter Jaso he hits a fly ball to Center and Granderson makes the catch and the throw is offline Saunders scores 3-1 Seattle. Felix was pitching well but Control was leaving him. Top 5 he hits Ichiro in the foot he would walk it off. Then top 8 would hit Jeter it the back but he’s ok. Then after Jeter steals 2nd and Granderson strikes out. A-Rod comes up the 3-2 pitch is a change left up and it comes inside on Rodriguez and hits him in the hand he would be removed from played expected to miss 6-8 weeks Nix would pitch run. Felix would be done after that the southpaw Lucas Luetge comes in and he lets Cano single to load the bases. Next batter Teixeira he hits a fly ball to center Saunders makes the catch runners advance Jeter scores it’s 3-2 now. Ibanez comes up now and Luetge would throw a fastball that slips away from him and brushes Raul as he falls to his back to get out of the way then Ibanez strikes out to end the inning. Bottom 8 Ackley with one out walks then 2 batters later Montero gets an intentional pass runners on 2nd and 1st 2 down then Jaso walks Seager comes up the 3-2 pitch the 6th pitch of the at bat is a check swing that the ball makes contact with and it roles down the 3rd base line Ackley scores it’s 4-2 and that would be your final.

9. YANKEES V MARINERS 5-2 The Mariners looking to win the rubber game against the Yankees in would could be Ichiro’s last game at Safeco field. Top one Iwakuma getting the start for the M’s the 2-2 to Jeter leading off buzzes him and Joe Garardi not happy after Hernandez performance last night. Next pitch to Jeter he gets a fastball middle away and gets all of it a deep drive to left off the scoreboard and into the bullpen Jeter’s 8th of the season Yankees up 1-0. Bottom of the frame the M’s answer back Saunders up one out no one on and he singles then Montero Singles up the middle Saunders goes to 2nd then next batter John Jaso walks on 4 pitches from Nova. Seager up and he pulls out the Marines secret weapon the bases loaded walk as the M’s get on the board 1-1. Next batter Carp hits a sharp ground at Teixeira at first he throws to 2nd trying to turn two but the throw goes haywire Jeter able to keep it in the infield he tags 2nd base gets Seager out but the run scores as the M’s take the lead 2-1. Top 8 Jeff Kinney pitching Jeter leading off and he gets a fastball to the thigh and he’s limping but he would walk it off and be ok then Lucas Luetge would come in to face Cano he singles into right but Jeter would hold at 2nd then Teixeira singles up the middle but Saunders gets it back in to keep the run from scoring but the bases are loaded Granderson up and heeeeee pops out. Then Luetge would be replaced by Shawn Kelly but the runners still responsible to Kinney and Luetge. Nix comes up to pitch hit for Raul Ibanez and he rips this one to deep left center and this one is trouble Saunders and Wells are going back but they aren’t going to catch it as it hits the base of the fence Wells gets it back in but the bases are cleared 4-2 New York. 2 batters later Chavez on first Martin singles Nix scores 5-2 the Yankees will take this one 5-2 final.

10. ROYALS V MARINERS 1-4 The Seattle Mariners open a series at home against the KC royals a team they hit well against on the road. Bottom one Ackley leading off he singles then 2 batters later Wells singles Ackley holds at 2nd Jaso up now he flies out to right Ackley tags to 3rd then Seager gets a hit with a fastball then next batter Carp singles back up the middle on a grounder Ackley scores Wells wheeling he scores 2-0 Seattle as the M’s rattle Mendoza in the first. Top 4 2 out no one on Cain walks then Butler hits a soft linear towards the left center field gap it bounces at the track and Cain speeds around 3rd and scores all the way from first and that cuts the lead in half but after that Jason Vargas closed the door for the Royals he goes 8 innings 1 hit 1 run 3 walks and 5 K in an epic performance. Bottom 4 Carp singles then Olivo singles then 2 batters later Ryan hits a soft line drive down the left field line and it lands in Carp scores Ryan to first Olivo to 2nd 3-1 Seattle. Bottom 6 Olivo doubles off the scoreboard in left then next batter Peguero hit a linear that bounces then roles all the way to the wall a stand up double 4-1 Seattle final the M’s win.

11. ROYALS V MARINERS 1-6 The Mariners looking to stay in the playoff race against the KC Royals. Bottom 1 Jeremy Guthrie on the mound coming over to the Royals from the Rockies making his first start for KC and it starts rocky Saunders up with one down he singles then Montero singles Saunders goes to 3rd then next batter Jaso he’s up and he’s out of here he gets a fastball high and away and blasts it to deep right center and gone his 5th on the year 3-0 Mariners. Bottom 2 now it’s 1-3 now Ryan leading off he singles then Ackley hits a low fastball to the fence as it one hops it in right center gap the Royals get it back in Ryan scores from first 4-1 Seattle. Then Saunders he grounds out to 2nd Ackley to 3rd then after Montero gets hit by a pitch Jaso comes up and hits a fly ball to left Gordon makes the catch and gets it back in Ackley scores 5-1. After that Blake Bevan said leave it to me he was hurling a master peace he goes 6 and 2/3 4 hits 1 run all earned and 6 K’s. Mike Carp up in the bottom of the 6 and he is recently called up from triple A and he gets a fastball high and inside and goes opposite field with it to deep right and goodbye that ball is history a solo bomb to make it 6-1 final

12. ROYALS V MARINERS 3-4 Game 3 against the Royals bring out the brooms as the M’s go for the sweep, but more importantly the Mariners induct Randy Johnson and Dan “the man” Wilson into the Mariners hall of fame, congrats to those to now lets play ball. Top one Millwood on the mound Escobar up he hits a grounders towards Seager he fields and fires towards first but his throw sorrows on him and goes to the backstop Escobar takes 2nd on the throw. Then 2 batters later Butler he hits a bloop single to right Wells charging picks the ball up and throws but there is no chance Escobar scores 1-0 KC. Bottom 3 now Bruce Chen still pitching 1 out no one on Wells singles then 2 batters later same scenario Montero up he gets a breaking ball low and away and some way some how gets it up and deep to left Gordon going to watch this one leave the yard a 2 run shot 2-1 Seattle as they take the lead with one swing of the bat. Next batter Seager he double then Olivo comes up and he hits a sharp grounder towards the hole at 1st and 2nd Bettencourt dives but it roles into right field base hit Seager speeding towards the plate the throw it there but Seager slides past the catcher and to the plate he scores on a great side 3-1 C-attel. Top 8 League pitching one out Gordon up he double to center over the head of Saunders then next batter Escobar up he hits a fly ball to deep center field and off the fence Escobar speeds towards third he’s in there Gordon scores 2-3. The M’s would pick up a run in the bottom of the 8th on a Carp sac fly. We go top 9 a quick 2 outs for Whilhelmsen then Hosmer singles then Hosmer advances to 2nd on defensive interference. Then Cain comes up and he hits a fly ball to deep right field Wells towards the line he dives but the ball is just out of his reach as it roles past him to the fence Hosmer scores easy 3-4. Next batter Gordon the tying run on 3rd 90 feet away and he hits a grounder to Carp he fields it cleanly tags 1st and end the ball game 3-4 final.

13. SOUNDERS V RAPIDS 2-1 After the All star game the Sounders head to the mile high city to play the Colorado Rapids. In the 2nd minute of the match the Sounders win a corner Rosales set to take the ball towards the 6 yard box is met by Eddie Johnson and he hits a header low far post everyone is stunned as NAME dose not do anything and neither do his defenders as the Sounders go up 1-0 early. In the 3rd minute the Rapids answer back Mullen down the right side sends a rocket low ball into the 6 past all three Parke, Johansson and Gspurning don’t touch it as it meets the foot of Drew Moor as he sends a ball upper post and in as the Rapids equalize. If you were late for this game you missed all the action. In the 65th minute Caskey pump fakes a cross in the box then sends ball to a wide open Eddie Johnson and he sends a cross towards Alonso at the far right side of the Penalty spot Alonso steps up and volleys this one left footed as it bounces near post and curls into the corner as Pickens cannot dive quick enough 2-1 Seattle. That would be your final the Rapids would play cat and mouse for the rest of the game with a handful of opportunities but fail to score 2-1 final.

OLYMPIC WRAP UP 28TH OF JULY US vs. France MENS BASKETBALL OPENING CERMONEY LOCHTE UPSET The USA men’s basketball team able to down the tough France team with there star Tony Parker 98-71 the USA struggled shooting outside the key but were able to seize victory and put in a good performance. Durant lead with 22 points Lebron helped with 8 assists after foul trouble in the first half the US battled back to win the 2nd half. In his first Olympic games after winning 8 in Beijing Michael Phelps loses his first Olympic event in 2012 finishing 4th. Ryan Lochte upsets Phelps getting first place in the Men’s 400 meter individual medley. This was Phelps's first time not reaching the podium since his first Olympics in Sydney 2000 as a 14 year old. The opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic games was held this Friday in London featuring 204 nations and an estimated 10,500 athletes with 302 events in 26 sports.
