  1. Newsroom 2.0 Tridion guide 08.12.2011 Antti Ihalainen WW CS Ops

  2. Newsroom 2.0 Tridion guide • This guide will cover the actions required from CMs and country PR people to finalize, review and publish the Newsroom 2.0 for their country. • Please check http://teams8.sharepoint.hp.com/teams/csops/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fteams%2fcsops%2fShared%20Documents%2fNewsroom%202%2e0&FolderCTID=&View=%7b486E0BB3%2d42AE%2d49DB%2d8583%2d894219C93596%7dfor latest version of this guide! This guide will get updated as the deployment continues. Later Emily Goh will create a separate guide for Newsroom maintenance that will then continue to be updated after the deployment is all done.

  3. Deployment process • After you get this guide the finalization can begin. • All new components have centrally been published to stage for you. • Please republish all existing 2008-2011 Press Releases live and stage now if not done so yet. There is no impact on live Newsroom. • I will send CMs request to review translated components as soon as they are back from translation (about a week more). However, finalization work can begin now as long as these components sent for translation are not touched. There is a list of these components on next slide. • Locales can go live individually as soon as they are done with finalization and reviews. Email Emily Goh & Antti Ihalainen when you are done. • EOB November 30this the deadline for the rollout.

  4. Support • Emily Goh, Antti Ihalainen & CS Ops are ready to assist you when needed. Emily will also host support calls late October / early November. • If you need support please submit a SPRInt tool support ticket - https://external1.collaboration.hp.com/external/SPRInt/Lists/Service%20List%20Tools%20Support/CreateForm.aspx?SID=999999. To maintain consistency, put “Support for Newsroom 2.0 deployment” in the ticket title field. This Sprint support is available now during deployment and also afterwards during regular maintenance.

  5. MANDATORY ADDITIONAL INFO • Go to folder http://teams8.sharepoint.hp.com/teams/csops/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fteams%2fcsops%2fShared%20Documents%2fNewsroom%202%2e0&FolderCTID=&View=%7b486E0BB3%2d42AE%2d49DB%2d8583%2d894219C93596%7dand download these mandatory additional documents: • 1) Word document ”Newsroom redesign – Functional Specifications.docx”. This document describes all Newsroom 2.0 functions in such detail that we just cannot cover in this short training. • 2) Excel document ”newsroom components in translation”, this is the list of components being translated right now. Non-English locales: please do not touch these components until the translations are ready = component has been localized and released for you to edit.

  6. Enhancements and design

  7. Operational Enhancements • Better support for time sensitive launches (allow publish of articles ahead of time with metadata controlling when content becomes exposed) • Allows precisely setting when content will become visible • Removes risk due to full publishing queue • Helps to mitigate disruption when publishing freezes are planned • Detail page will return 404 if press release is “pre-release” (would improve ability to remove link from search engines) • Fully backward compatible, but with improved ability to create more visually engaging content for future articles • Support for embedding video, quote, graphics via templated approach (instead of having to insert html/class references into RTF field)

  17. IMPLEMENTATION * This section shows basic initial localization and deployment that needs to happen for the rollout. * Deployment activities need to be done by hp.com Country Managers + local PR persons / agencies.

  18. About the site structure in Tridion • Every Newsroom 2.0 ”page” is built from several components that can reside in many folders. • There are for example separate components for page title, many links, images and so on. One News Release consists of several components in one main folder and two subfolders. • Therefore it is very important to pay special atention to the folder structure in Tridion, where the components are in relation to each other. • We will try to provide example components for each page so every folder and subfolder would have at least one component pre-filled with real (corporate) content that you can reuse or rewrite if needed. • If you need to publish articles on ”old” newsroom you need to use the new component, but just fill in the needed fields and publish, it will show up on the ”old” newsroom. • If you see @ on any URL = leave as-is

  19. Please Remember • If you are editing unlocalized components, when you first open the component you get this popup. Please always choose middle option “Localize this item….”. Never choose first option “Edit the parent item” as that will mess the component up for all countries. If you just want to take a peek and not change anything, you can choose last option “Open the shared item in read-only mode”

  20. 1. Landing Pagenewsroom.html

  21. 1. Those are non-press releases related so this rule doesn’t apply to EB news releases. EB pages will have “| book” at the end of the component name.
