  1. Agency and Human Development under Conditions of Social Change Expert Workshop June 4 - 6, 2005, Jena, Germany Mission Statement Sociologists, criminologists, and psychologists from four different countries who share a unique interest in research related to agency and development in times of social change will meet at the expert workshop on “Agency and Human Development under Conditions of Social Change”. The central aim is to inspire exchange on a topic that – as can be seen in the work of all participating experts – profits tremendously from thoughts and analyses that cross disciplinary borders. By promoting interdisciplinary and international dialogue on most recent developments in the field, the workshop hopes to make a significant contribution to research on human development and social change. Workshop Hosts The workshop is hosted by the Center for Applied Developmental Science (CADS) and the Collaborative Research ConsortiumSFB 580 on „Social Developments After Structural Change“ at the University of Jena, Germany. The aim of the Center for Applied Developmental Science is to produce and disseminate scientific knowledge on human development and its application to policymakers and the public. Embedded in the SFB 580 the associated CADS project investigates „Individual and Social Resources for Coping with Social Change: Development and Psychosocial Effects“ (PI Rainer K. Silbereisen) and utilizes a large-scale longitudinal design. Please find more information online: CADS: www2.uni-jena.de/svw/devpsy/cads/start.php SFB 580: www.sfb580.uni-jena.de/index_engl.html Workshop Speakers We are looking forward to welcoming as lead speakers: Glen Elder, Michael J.
