  1. Polycom enables Alcatel Instant Video Solutionbycombining the power Alcatel IP Telephonywith Polycom Unified Collaboration Solutions

  2. Outline • Opportunity and solution integration summary • Customer benefits • Alcatel IP telephony solution overview • Polycom unified collaboration solution overview • How is Polycom enhancing Alcatel IP telephony solution • Joint solution overview • RAS 200A – SIP conferencing application server • PVX VOA desktop client • Features • Platform support • Roadmap • Questions

  3. Add Video Add Video Opportunity and solution integration summary • Polycom and Alcatel partner to deliver converged voice and video collaboration solution • The joint solution integrates Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise IP communications platform, the award-winning Alcatel IP Touch phones with Polycom's industry-leading MGC multipoint bridges, VSX video conferencing systems, and PVX desktop client over SIP • The result, Alcatel Instant Video solution

  4. Customer benefits • Leverage investment in existing telephony infrastructure while empowering users with video capabilities • Seamless integration with existing infrastructure • End users can use familiar telephony commands (Hold, Transfer, Merge etc.) to manage video calls. No new learning • Designed to operate over SIP protocol • Interoperability with legacy H.320 environments • Lower total cost of ownership through a single integrated solution

  5. Solution overview - Polycom components Video Room Systems V500 & VSX Family Desktop Video End Points PVX VOA MCU Video Bridges MGC Family RAS 200A SIP conferencing Application Server

  6. Solution overview - Alcatel components Application Framework Unified Communication API Instant Video Application Server (Omega) IP Communication Server OmniPCX Enterprise IPtouch phones

  7. How is Polycom enhancing Alcatel IP telephony solution • Scalable infrastructure to escalate a P2P audio phone call to a MP video session over SIP • High performance desktop video client (PVX VOA) – SIP • Convergence of conference room-based systems (VSX) with desktop conferencing (PVX VOA) Desktop client Conference rooms Alcatel IP Touch and Enterprise OmniPCX • Control and monitor a unified conference from an Alcatel IP Touch phone • On-demand conferencing Scalability, Availability, Security - Infrastructure MCU/Bridge SIP Conference Application server • Flexibility to choose most-appropriate audio/video endpoint for communication SIP and H.320 network

  9. RAS 200A – A SIP conferencing application server • Polycom RAS 200A is a SIP conferencing application server / B2BUA that creates video sessions between video clients (VSX and PVX VOA) and MGC • Acts on Alcatel Instant Video Application Server requests for video session creation, hold, un-hold, tear down • Report back to Alcatel Instant Video Application Server video user status • Selects MGC to host conference • Video clients (PVX VOA, VSX) register with RAS 200A (auto discover), get SIP server address, send status change reports • Imposes license policy to control number of concurrent video end points usage

  10. RAS 200A – Functionality, interfaces, protocols and API • Alcatel Instant Video Application Server to Polycom RAS 200A interface is a proprietary Polycom-Alcatel API based on Web Services (XML over HTTP) • Video endpoints to RAS 200A registration and end point reporting is a Polycom protocol running over HTTP • All video sessions established by RAS 200A (to video endpoints and MGC) use SIP with RAS 200A acting as a B2BUA • Video endpoints register and authenticate with SIP server • All SIP calls between RAS 200A and video endpoints go through Alcatel SIP server. • RAS 200A and MGC hold direct SIP calls, and not through the server.

  11. PVX VOA desktop client • A high quality desktop video client • PVX™ VOA integration with Alcatel IP touch phones enables users to start a video call from their IP Touch phone. • Once the call is established, audio flows through the IP Touch phone while video is displayed on the desktop using Polycom PVX™ VOA client. • Works with standard USB/Webcam camera • Supports SIP

  16. Features - Join me • Using VSX internal MCU • Establish a call between managed VSX and an external device (ISDN) • Use VSX IP Touch to call another IPTouch user • Escalate the audio call to video joining the “external call” External ISDN VSX

  17. Platform support

  18. Roadmap – Release 1.0 • Escalate a point to point audio call to a video session • Escalate 3-way audio call to a video call • Join me – Interoperability with remote H.320 sites using VSX embedded MCU • IP Touch telephony features (hold, transfer, inquiry call) reflected in video domain • Presence enabled – user's video presence reflected on IP Touch phone • Up to 500 registered video end points on one RAS 200A server • In P2P calls, up to 50 concurrent video sessions with a maximum 100 users • In MP calls, up to 50 users concurrently participating in video conferences on Polycom MGC bridges
