  41. RFID / SAP Integration and Mobile Asset Management Qatar Petroleum is committed to the highest standards for health, safety and the environment (HSE) throughout its operations. Qatar Petroleum is one of the most respected names in the Oil & Gas industry, QP wanted to ensure safety procedures are in place and 100% inspection and audit compliance is achieved for fire and safety critical equipments. • Issues: • Difficulty in performing an accurate and timely inspection of fire and safety critical equipment • Scheduling of inspection orders was done manually with no centralized control • No method to ensure the complete execution of the tasks in the inspection order • Difficulty in assessing which part vendors supplied the best quality and product performance • Solution: • Used RFID to tag fire and safety equipment. • This gave full visibility of when, how, and by whom a certain piece of equipment was inspected and this information was is accessible from anywhere • Tagging critical parts with RFID • This stored the parts performance and origin in an easy to access online database to compare with others for quality assurance. • Safety procedures tied into SAP • Made all data in regards to the safety checks available from anywhere

  42. RFID Warehouse Optimization The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), the state-owned oil company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is the largest petroleum corporation in the world. The Kingdom has the world’s largest recoverable oil reserves and the fourth-largest natural gas reserves. • Issues: • Poor spare part receiving system • Low inventory visibility • Very slow input into SAP due to lack in automation • Insufficient tracking of ROTATABLE (returnable spares that have a high value) • Solution: • RFID tagged spare parts • Better tracking of parts within the company that led to a decrease in delays when looking for parts • Fixed readers mounted throughout the facility • Automated the process of recording when parts were leaving and where they are going • Integration of RFID into SAP • The entire system was updated automatically on a real-time basis into SAP

  43. WMS, Rig Inventory and Asset Tracking ENSCO International ("ENSCO") is a Premier Global Offshore Oil and Gas Drilling Contractor providing services which are essential to oil companies in their worldwide exploration and development efforts. The Company’s fleet is strategically located in the most prolific domestic and international oil and gas markets. • Issues: • Manual inventory processes • Want for better spare part and inventory management on the rig • Track preventative maintenance on spares • Better asset visibility • Solution: • Used CATAMARAN asset visibility • Visibility in the warehouses and across many rigs of their inventory • Integration into PeopleSoft • Barcodes were implemented • CATAMARAN gave the ability to store and record data about spare parts and process that were carried out on each while also giving visibility of inventory life cycles
