  5. Program Success to Date Since August 2000, more than 500,000 children and their families have been served with clinical and educational programs through the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program!

Program Goals • Improve health outcomes • Provide continuity of care • Identify, treat and refer children with chronic and/or untreated health conditions • Fill the gap between services needed and services offered in a community • Educate children and families about healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, etc. • Provide educational environment for medical, dental and nursing students • Provide environment for clinical research (with consent) • Serve as insurance enrollment point (if applicable)

Services Meet Needs of Community • Medical • Exams, screenings, sub-specialty care, prenatal care, immunizations, blood collection, tattoo removal, asthma education & treatment, ophthalmology • Dental • Diagnostic, preventive, restorative • Social Services • Family assistance, counseling • Mental Health • Screening, referral • Insurance enrollment • CHIP, Medicaid • In-school education programs/Events

  10. Program Success to Date • Average program • 2500 - 8000 children/year • “On the road” 4 – 5 days/week • Extend between .5 and 300 miles from base of operations

Successful Program Model • Employ cross-trained staff • Paid core staff…nurse, nurse practitioner, dental hygienist, doctor, specialist, dentist, program manager • Provide service and/or attend special events 4 - 5 days/week • Treat 16 - 18 children/day (dental); 22 - 26 children/day (medical) • Visit a minimum of 3 unique sites/week • Provide significant breadth and depth of service including clinical and educational programs…and extend services outside of Ronald McDonald Care Mobile walls!

Budget & Funding • Expenses • Annual average operating and administrative budget = $209K - $598K • Salaries/benefits = 41% - 88% of budget • Revenues • “Legal” 3rd party (Medicaid) reimbursement = 0% - 52% of costs  • RMHC contribution • Foundation, corporation, ind’l support (keep in mind that non-profits are growing at twice the rate of for-profits…competition for $$$) • Clinical partner support • Limited local, state, federal grants
