  1. DECEMBER 4THWORLD LITERATURE Warm-up: Yesterday, we read“Jade Flower Palace.” Re-read this poem and answer: • What is one strong piece of diction that is used to communicate a strong feeling? (Note: Diction is usually ONE POWERFUL WORD that you know well– and usually adjectives are the best to analyze.) • What connotations (thoughts/ideas/images) come to mind when you hear this word? • What’s the overall mood of the poem (main emotion created in the reader)? • What is slightly ironic about this poem?` • Why do you think Tu Fu wrote this poem? What was he trying to communicate about life, about great people, or about the past, etc.?

  2. REMINDERS • Monday at 6 p.m.: parent meeting for the trip to London, Paris and Dublin (for spring break 2014). • Any late work from November that I can collect now? • Turn in interactive readers. • Homework: Write definitions and examples for Key Terms and STUDY THEM!
