Think, pair, share: • What is the difference between loneliness and solitude? (If you’re struggling, consult a dictionary). • Is solitude important? Explain your response in a couple of sentences.

  3. REMINDERS • Homework: Work on Key Terms Study Guide! • Reminder: If I don’t have a needed portfolio assignment before 1st lunch, you will not be able to submit it. • Question: A trip next spring break?

  4. STANDARDS Reading 3.4: Analyze the ways in which poets use imagery… and sounds to evoke readers’ emotions.

  5. LITERARY TERMS Candy for those who can answer the following… What is the definition of a metaphor? Provide an example from life. From yesterday’s homework, tell us what imagery you analyzed from “We Pick Ferns, We Pick Ferns” and what you analyzed about the mood behind it.

  6. SELECTED POEMS OF LI PO • In your Interactive Readers, turn to page 159. • On your own, quietly read selected poems of Li Po. • Note: Read each poem 2-3 times (poetry always needs to be read multiple times to understand it).
