AIM vs traditional setting • 9-week Course Completion • Individual, small group and computer aided instruction, self-esteem enhancement, flexible scheduling, and a quality, caring staff are the keynotes to this approach • Offers TAKS Instructional Support • Students that have not met state testing requirements are required to take TAKS Target classes prior to each TAKS administration • Focuses on individual student needs • Offers flexible school hours TAKS + Credits = Graduation

  42. Special education • AIM program – the entire program is an accommodation! • Small groups, preferential seating, shortened assignments, tutoring assistance, cooling-off periods, positive reinforcers, time for repeated review or drill, etc.

Point Sheets • 60 to 70 points per day for credit • Incentives for good behavior: • 10 consecutive days of earned credit allows the student to eat lunch in the cafeteria, instead of in the classroom • A perfect point sheet earns the privilege of PE after 6th period each day • When a student wants to misbehave, a gentle reminder about keeping the privilege of PE or lunch is usually enough!
