  31. POPCORN SALE IN A BOX • Again, one of the MOST important things you as a unit can do is hold a Unit Popcorn Kickoff. • This is why the Trail’s End is providing every selling unit with a Sale in a Box Kit and in it a Marshmallow Crossbow (and more) to use at the kickoff. • You will pick up your kits as you leave tonight.

  32. What’s in your Sale Box • Money Collection Envelopes • Family Sale Guides: Prize Brochures & Order Forms, Disney/Top Sale Prize Sheet and Missing House Tracking • Sale Date, Military and Prize Posters • 3’ x 4’ Sale Banner • Planning guide & Sale Training DVD • 1 – Marshmallow Crossbow • Product Samples • MORE…

Guidebook “QUICK REVIEW” • District Popcorn Chair Contact Information • Incentive Levels & Criteria • Scholarship Information and Forms • Pick Up, Distribution and Reorder/Additional Orders • Blitz Day Information • Missing House Tracking • Online Ordering & Military Donation • Unit Master Record & Prize Summary • Final Check List • If you are new and have not ordered on-line before, please stay when we are finished to discuss.

  34. SUBMITTING FORMS • All Popcorn communication, items to be submitted, or requests for popcorn will use the following email address:sioux.popcorn@scouting.orgDO NOT SEND emails and requests directly to Linda or Brian.

  35. Inter-unit Transfers • Why? Many units have requested to be able to transfer products between units. (i.e., a unit needs caramel, another has too much) • How? • Must fill out Inter-unit Transfer Form • BOTH Unit Popcorn Chairs MUST sign • Unit giving up product MUST mail the form to the Center for Scouting BEFORE 10/28/10 – (failure to do so will result in the original unit being responsible for the product.)

  36. Ordering Popcorn & Prizes • Ordering Show ‘N’ Deliver and Take Order (Final Order) Popcorn • This is done online through trails-end.com • Passwords will be emailed near the end of August • We will show you how to order online later • REMEMBER: • Even if you don’t need to place a final order for physical popcorn, you must place your Military Orders during the Final Order Process.

  37. Ordering Popcorn & Prizes • Ordering Prizes • This is done online through trails-end.com • We will show you how later • This must be done by November 2nd. • REMEMBER: • You must place your prize order online, AND we must received your Unit Master Record/Prize Summary. • We will release your prize order only after receiving you Unit Master Record/Prize Summary; and we have verified it.

  38. DID YOU KNOW…. • A Scout can EASILY sell $300 worth of popcorn in 2 hours (that is only 20 houses on average) & Scouts can do this with PRODUCT IN HAND!!! • ONE STOP SHOP

  39. How To Meet Your Per Boy Goal Needs • Set your PER BOY GOAL based on your Planning & Budgeting. • If you tell families to sell $300, they will sell $300. If you tell them to sell $500, they will sell $500. Set the EXPECTATION!!! • Provide a copy of your Unit’s Year Round Program to EVERY Parent, just like you would in September at your unit’s recruitment night. This shows them “why” they need to sell this amount and what their son will get out of the program. • Don’t make per boy goals and selling an option. Make them an “EXPECTATION” because the boys deserve a quality program and boys deserve to learn Financial Responsibility. • Train Your Scouts • Conduct Role Playing Sessions with Scouts. This can teach them confidence and sales technique. Boys can only be as good as they are shown. Teaching them “how” to stand in front of adults and “selling” them on their product is KEY! After they are shown, have them practice.

  40. How To Meet Your Per Boy Goal Needs Continued • Show-N-Deliver (ONE STOP SHOP) • By having product directly in hand, it makes life MUCH easier for the parents because they don’t have to go back. • By having product directly in hand, it makes it easier for parents to be involved that have never let their boys sell. • Will make things easier on the family checkbook because of the cost of gas. • Greater Customer Satisfaction. Not to mention they are more likely to eat the product and then need more. • Community Blitz • Divide up your Community or an area of town between your Scouts and canvas this area EARLY in the sale. This way each boy has an EQUAL opportunity because doors have not been knocked on. • Turn this into a UNIT PARTY!!! Start your Blitz with a Cheerleading Session and rap it up with a Pizza Party. • Missed House Tracking • Encourage your Scout families to utilize this tool so they know which houses to go back to.

  41. What do others do?

  42. QUESTIONS / DISCUSSION • On-Line Ordering • If you are new and need guidance with “on-line” ordering, please stay after.
