  3. Sector’s Role in Oil Spill Response USCG Captain of the Port is the pre-designated Federal On-Scene Coordinator for all oil discharges and hazardous materials releases in the coastal zone. Other Critical Federal Agencies for an Oil Spill Response: EPA, NOAA, USFWS, NMFS and DOI

  4. Area Committee & Plan Area Committee is made up of experienced environmental/response representatives from Federal, State and local government agencies with definitive responsibilities for the area’s environmental integrity. The ACP must be adequate to remove, mitigate, and prevent a worst case discharge of oil or hazardous material from any substantial threat in the area.

  5. Sub-Committees • Preparedness- tasked with developing, examining and maintaining strategies for response. • Resources- tasked with developing, examining and maintaining lists of all resources required to respond. • Scientific Support- tasked with developing, examining and maintaining economic and environmentally sensitive areas, response strategies, prioritizing protection for use in these sensitive areas.
