  3. Question of the Day • You live in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. An EQ strikes hundreds of miles away off the coast of Alaska, but your life is still in danger. Why? • Underwater EQs can trigger Killer Waves known as tsunamis that can travel for many miles at speeds close to 1,000 km/h.

  6. III. Aftershock • What is an aftershock? • Smaller EQs that occur after a main EQ. Aftershocks can happen hours, days, weeks and even months after an EQ.
