  1. Changes to 2009 IFGC(International Fuel Gas Code) • Adopted by Reference by section 301.3 Michigan Mechanical Code.

  2. Definitions Chapter 2 • Appliance – utilizes gas • Apparatus and devices other than appliances.

  3. Make up air provisions 304.4 • Where exhaust fans, clothes dryers, Kitchen fans interfere with operation of appliances make up air is to be provided • (Shall be determined in adequacy of space-Old Code)

  4. Access Service space 306.1 MMC & IFGC • Removal of Appliance cannot result in removing other appliances, Piping & Ducts not associated with the appliance.

  5. Attic & Crawl Space installations 306.3 • Removal of the largest appliance opposed to largest part. ( Opening) • Correlates with Michigan Mechanical Code Now

  6. Electrical Bonding 310.1.1 • CSST must be bonded to electrical service with #6 AWG

  7. Gas Piping Entering Building 404.4 • Gas line must enter a building above grade Not approved Approved

  8. Shut of Valves 409.5.2 409.6 • Room heater shut off can be remotely located when I.D. as such • Laboratory Valve required. – located at egress door –Research labs, schools, Industrial.

  9. Unions – 411.6 • Language now requiring unions for appliances within 6 ft of the appliance for rigid metal pipe. • Code use to only regulate Valve upstream from union.

  10. Plastic Vent Joints 503.4.1.1 • When primer is required by Manufacturer’s Installation Instruction • Primer must have a contrasting color.

  11. Commercial Cooking Appliance Interlock 505.11 • New Language to make sure that appliances with standing pilots not to be extinguished. – • Compromise created for Cooking Stove companies. • Dangerous if you have to keep relighting pilots

  12. Kitchen Return air allowed 618.5 (6) • Serve only kitchen area only • Must be located 10 feet from cooking appliances
