Schedule Morning Procedures (7:45 – 8:00) AR (8:00 - 8:15) Band / Specials (8:15-9:00) 1st Period (9:05-10:35) 2nd Period (10:40-12:10) Lunch (12:15-12:45) 3rd Period (Homeroom) (12:50-2:20) Change for P.E. (2:20 – 2:30) P.E. / Teacher’s Conference (2:30-3:15) DismissalProcedures (3:15 - 3:30)

  4. Conduct • Planners are used daily to monitor student expectations. • Homeroom conduct binder follows the class. • Common offenses: Student’s Responsibilities(Parent signature, classwork, and homework) Leaving their belongings behind(planners, books, jackets, graded papers) Disruptive behavior (in class or hallway)

  5. Consequences 1st Offense - Verbal Warning 2nd Offense – Deduct 1 pt. (Teacher signs planner) 3rd Offense – Deduct 1 pt. (Teacher signs planner, possible student phone call to parent) 4th Offense – Deduct 1 pt. (Teacher signs planner, student/teacher conference, parent conference, or possible office referral) Any serious offense – automatic office referral

  6. Morning Procedures Check Planners (parent’s signature daily) Morning Announcements (7:55 A.M.) Tardy slips issued at 8:00 A.M. No phone calls to parents due to forgetting planners, books, signatures, instruments, etc.

  7. After School Procedures • Student will go to a designated teacher 1st run – Mrs. Lopez Pick-up – Mrs. Perez 2nd run / Daycare– Mrs. Flores walkers – Mrs. Linn assist monitoring – Miss Grossman *This will change every 6 weeks • Students will be dismissed by the teacher (at the appropriate time) • Students will walk in line and orderly

  8. Attendance • Students will have up to 3 days to bring in an excuse from the Dr. or parent for an excused absence. • Any make up class work / test will not be accepted for unexcused absences. • 3 tardies or leaving early passes per six weeks equals one unexcused absence for award purposes. (Mrs. Montalvo will keep track of these)

  9. Grading Number grades 90+ A 80-89 B 75-79 C 70-74 D Below a 70 on an assignment / test – Reteach / Retest *** Retest grades cannot be higher than a 70. ***Grades lower than a 50 will be recorded in the grade book. Progress Reports (3rd week of 6 weeks) Report Cards (Every 6 weeks) Parents pick up report cards 2nd and 4th six weeks.

  10. GradingPolicy There will be a total of 10 grades per 6-weeks for the following subjects: Math / Reading Science / Social Studies There will be a total of 6 grades per 6-weeks for the following subjects: Grammar/ Writing / Spelling

  11. Dress Code(Boys) Dress Code is enforced at John H. Shary. Hair length & style No sleeveless shirts Shirts must be tucked in No tattered or torn jeans See Handbook for complete dress code Violations will be sent to the office for further review.

Dress Code(Girls) Dresses, skirts, shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee Sleeveless blouses or shirts must cover the shoulder and no undergarments must be visible No tattered or torn jeans See Handbook for complete dress code Violations will be sent to the office for further review

  19. Homework Homework is usually not assigned for Science, but there will be 1 test per week and they will need to study for it. (Study Guides are provided.) AR reading(Science Related books 3 pts./ six weeks) These points will count for a grade each six weeks Science Fair (first week of Dec.)

  27. Math • About 30 minutes of math. • Homework is due the next day, unless otherwise specified. If it is not done, he/she will lose a conduct point, but must still complete the assignment for the next day. • Students document assignments in their planner on a monthly basis. *Students are responsible for their homework assignment even when they are absent.
