  5. Our Beginnings Founded in 1993 as a not-for-profit organization in affiliation with several educational associations including AACRAO, NASFAA, COHEAO, NCHELP, et al.

National Student Clearinghouse History Background • Created to facilitate the flow of student enrollment information, specifically for student loan purposes. • Formerly, we were known as the National Student Loan Clearinghouse • In 1999, name changed to National Student Clearinghouse to emphasize services extending beyond student loans

  19. So, where are your students? • BeforeStudentTracker, reliable information was often difficult to obtain. Students who transfer or who leave or stop out of college often require detailed follow up via: • Telephone searches • Mail searches • Contracting with a search service • If a state reporting system is used, it often will only be for the publics and certainly would not cross state boundaries. • These methods often resulted in missing or inconclusive data.

Implementation Steps • Sign the StudentTracker for Outreach Programs Agreement and submit it with annual payment of $425. • Apply for a user name and password for each staff member who will be accessing StudentTracker for Outreach Programs. • The Clearinghouse will provide you with the appropriate form upon receipt of your signed agreement. • Begin using StudentTracker for Outreach Programs.

Benefits of New Data Elements Will Improve Results of StudentTracker Queries as follows: • Class Level will help you understand persistence and differentiate between undergraduate and graduate enrollment. • CIP Code/Major will provide greater insight into student transfer and career decisions. .

Enhancements to StudentTracker for Outreach • New Data Elements will be added to reports once colleges begin reporting these data elements to the Clearinghouse. • Programs can request to send us files. If you have a large number of students to track, you can create an Excel file and receive your data back as a csv file.
