SOWISO • SOWISO is founded in 2010 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Eindhoven • Our founding was preceded by 15 years of scientific research • SOWISO develops state-of-the-art educational software for mathematics and related exact sciences • Our main product is an e-learning platform for the exact sciences • Our clients are large educational institutions: Universities, Colleges, Publishers • Our projects are delivered on time and on budget • We have a large academic network and are part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology • We focus on technology and create partnerships with institutions which are more content-orientated • SOWISO is based at the Science Park, Amsterdam

Product: e-learning platform • Learning management system with student/teacher/author/admin profiles and functions • Interactive e-learning with advanced intelligent communication between user and software. Interpretation of open answers and targeted feedback and hints • Progress reports for students and teachers at any desired level of detail. Very suited for learning analytics and predictive learning • Authoring tool for teachers and authors so they can create interactive content without programming knowledge • Tests can be composed and taken by teachers. These can be entrance or exit-level (diagnosing) tests • Tags and metadata make sure the platform can be applied in a diagnosing and remedial way by the use of learning-taxonomy • Community features enable students, teachers and authors to co-create and co-learn • Cross-browser, cross-device HTML5 future-proof technology • All mathematical subjects are covered by our platform, ranging from arithmetic to advanced calculus • Multi-lingual support as platform and content texts all support multiple languages

Case Study • Platform use for course in computer science (gaming) • Results: • 12.000 exercises by 40 students • Students who practiced more received better grades • For making predictions a rating system was introduced • Data cleaning was needed • Error analysis for enriching content • Final exam was randomly generated by platform • Behavior • Different learning styles • Just in time learning • Peaks in usage
