Who are we ? • Global and local express and courier companies • Providing value added service to business • Operating global networks - hub and spoke • Over 750.000 people employed worldwide • Moving over 20 million items per day in over 200 countries and territories • The companies that get your urgent documents and parcels delivered around the globe

What are the burdens ? • The main burdens are of a financial nature • Costly licensing fees based on revenue and/or equally costly taxes on shipments • % charge based on revenue • Contributions to the cost of the national postal operator • The cost usually end up being charged to the user, making trade more expensive 8

  4. A way forward…. • Licensing to be clearly impartial • Should not be a source of income • Aim at fair competition between operators • Support development of competition without affecting quality of public services • Not result in a cost for the local business involved in global trade 8
