  1. Energy Loss of a debunched beam at store N. Abreu, M. Blaskiewicz, W. Fischer, P. Harvey, H. Burkhardt (CERN),J. Butler, K. Brown and K. Smith

  2. Yellow: LF Schottky, harmonic 3135 of frev, approx. 2 h

  3. Blue; LF Schottky, harmonic 3135 of frev, approx. 2 h

  4. Revolution Frequency Shift Change of f with time, LF Schottky.

  5. Frequency spread Frequency spread at the beginning of the measurement Change of rev. freq spread with time, LF Schottky.

  6. Results • Can be caused by • Dp/p = 4.1e-4/h (for DB/B = 0, 100 GeV) • 2.5e-4/h (for DB/B = 0, 70 GeV) • DB/B = +3.9e-4/h (for Dp/p = 0, 100 GeV) • +2.2e-4/h (for Dp/p = 0, 70 GeV) • DB/B less than 1e-5/h, DB positive (Animesh) • [estimate from radius drift of bunched beam has 10x larger error] • Conclusion: • Dp/p with about 10% error • Need to sort energy loss into: • parasitic loss (impedance) • interaction with rest gas • synchrotron light

  7. 100Gev/u and 70GeV/u results
