Strategic Aims • To provide advice, guidance and support to all projects funded under HEFCE/DELNI disability programme, ‘Improving provision for disabled students’ • To actively promote the dissemination and embedding of project outcomes • To provide a focal point of information about the HEFCE/DELNI funding programme • To identify and transfer project learning • To provide a first port of call to HEIs to promote developments in strategic planning, policy, practice and learning and teaching in relation to disabled students

  3. Improving provision for disabled students • Strand one – base level provision • Strand two – teaching and learning

  4. Communications tools • Website (www.natdisteam.ac.uk) • On-line helpdesk • Mailbase • Newsletter/electronic bulletin • Briefings • Conferences/workshops/seminars

  5. Major activities • Programme of visits to all funded projects - supplemented by communication via telephone and email • Programme of workshops for project staff (CPD) • To develop a range of tools/materials to support capacity building • Develop links with a range of stakeholders to mainstream disability issues • Inform policy and practice at all levels

  6. Working with the LTSN and individual subject centres • Named link with National Co-ordinator • Scoping study • Dissemination of subject specific resources • Identification of generic support • Identification of subject specific information • Development of toolkit • Attendance at annual conference (or equivalent) • Syndicated articles

  7. Challenges • Engaging the academic community • Stimulating/supporting smaller/specialist institutions • Disability as an inclusive activity
