  1. Tuesday 11-26-13November Identity Narrative • Warm-up Question: It is a time to be thankful. There are things we are thankful for that are not tangible. These things mean more than actual gift. They are things like time, second chances, forgiveness, friendship and loyalty. List people who have given you any of these intangible/abstract gifts and include what they have given you. • November Identity Narrative – classtime: rough draft in writer’s notebook first and then begin working on your page. • Daily Review – week 16 Monday and Tuesday due Wednesday

Wednesday 11-27-13Letter Three • What is the conflict in your third letter? • Take out your letter: • Highlight the transitions • Label the dialogue and write the purpose in the margin • Circle precise word choice, sensory detail, and figurative language • Leave your letter out for me to check! • Daily Review – week 16: Wednesday (we will go over Mon –Wed)

  3. November Identity Narrative : Giving Thanks for Simple Gifts Directions: Create a page about gifts that you have been given that aren’t wrapped in packages. For example, gifts of time, patience, second chances, listening, laughter, understanding, etc. Include notes of thanks to the people that have given you each precious gift. Include a title, a border, a visual and a written section. Pre-writing will be done in your writer’s notebook.  1. On the Front– a creative title, and your name. 2. Border– a similar border to your previous pages. 3. Visual– Create pockets, flaps or envelopes for each gift. An illustration/symbol that represents your gifts should be on the outside of the pockets, flaps, or envelopes. 4. Written Section– Notes of thanks to the people who have given you the simple gifts. Each note must include a salutation, a body explaining the gift and why you are thankful, and a closing with a signature. These heartfelt thank you notes are to be placed in or under the pockets, flaps, or envelopes you have designed. - You must include at least TWO gifts on your portfolio page.

Requirements for Writing Notes: • Salutation – address the person to who are writing • Body/Content – one to three paragraphs explaining the gift they have given you, why it is important to you, and why you are thankful (Length – no less than a paragraph (8-10 sentences) (Number of Notes – at least TWO) • Closing/Signature – sign each letter • Conventions – use proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation • Rough draft of each letter must be in your writer’s notebook. • Notes can not be written in pencil. • DUE : Tuesday 12-2-13
