  2. Energy/Food Waste Audit • Investigate options for conducting energy audit of kitchen appliances • Explore possibility of replacing old, inefficient appliances • Would save money and energy in the long run • Identify any food waste by observing preparation, clean-up in kitchen

  3. Raising Awareness • Signs in cafeteria and throughout school • Provide ethical/environmental/health information about different types of foods served in cafeteria • Symbols for different meal options e.g. locally-grown, vegetarian, etc. • Food fair to promote sustainable food choices

Farm-to-School Program • Purpose: connect schools with local farms • serve healthy meals in school cafeterias • improve student nutrition • provide health and nutrition education opportunities • support local small farmers • 53 Oregon schools involved • Existing farm-to-school programs: Abernathy Elementary School, Bend-La Pine School District, Crow Applegate Lorane School District, Eugene 4J School District, Portland Public Schools
