  20. To which family does thetrumpet belong? A.Strings B.Brass C. Woodwind D. Percussion

  21. …not the Strings Sorry. This instrument doesn’t have strings, so it doesn’t fit into that family.

  22. Good job!Try another!!

  23. …not the Woodwinds It would need to be an instrument that you blew air into if it were in that family.

  24. …not the Percussion Ooops! Only instruments that you “hit” belong in that family.

  25. To which family does theclarinet belong? A.Strings B.Brass C. Woodwind D. Percussion

  26. …not the Strings Hint: You press down keys to change the sound on a clarinet, not pluck or bow.

  27. …not the Brass Hint: You blow into a reed on the clarinet mouthpiece rather than buzz your lips.

  28. Way to go!Take another turn!!

  29. …not the Percussion Try again.

  30. To which family does theviolin belong? A.Strings B.Brass C. Woodwind D. Percussion

  31. Yes!Go again!!

  32. …not the Brass The violin has tuning pegs, not tuning slides like a brass instrument would.

  33. …not the Woodwinds Good try! The violin is made of wood, but you don’t blow to make the sound.

  34. …not the Percussion You could break the violin if you “hit” it. Try a different answer.

  35. To which family does theflute belong? A.Strings B.Brass C. Woodwind D. Percussion

  36. …not the Strings Go back and look at how the girl is playing the flute. See if that gives you a hint.

  37. …not the Brass Good thinking. Although a flute is made of metal, it doesn’t have the other characteristics of the brass family. There is a better choice. Try again.

  38. Keep up the good work!

  39. …not the Percussion A flute is long and skinny like a drumstick, but it belongs to another family.

  44. …not the Percussion Try another answer.

  45. To which family does thetympani belong? A.Strings B.Brass C. Woodwind D. Percussion

  46. …not the Strings This instrument doesn’t have strings, so it doesn’t fit into that family.

  47. …not the Brass There is another family that fits better. See if you can figure it out.

  48. …not the Woodwinds A mallet would make a better sound on this instrument than blowing wind. Does that help you?

  49. Yippee!Keep going!!
