Review from yesterday • How do we classify instruments? • We classify instruments based on how sound is produced. • What are the 6 classifications we discussed yesterday? • Aerophones, Membranophones, Corpophones, Idiophones, Electrophones, Chordophones • Which one requires air to produce sound? • Aerophone

Aerophones • Aerophones produce sound by blowing air across a reed, tone hole, or into a mouthpiece that is connected to a tube. • Aerophones also manipulate pitch by pressing down valves, keys, or moving a slide when blowing air through the tube. • Aerophones can be split into two families based on: • What they are made of • How they manipulate pitch • How they initiate sound
