  2. Walking in the Halls • Road rules: WALK on the right side of the hallway • Walk single file • No running and keep hands to yourself • Avoid creating giant discussion groups that block the flow of traffic

  3. Entering the Room • Please enter quietly • Have a seat • Take out your materials • Begin Bell Work assignment • Review Lesson Agenda

  4. When You Are Late • Get late slip from office • Enter quietly • Place your late slip or signed agenda on my desk • Have a seat and take out materials

  5. Moving Around The Room • Raise hand to ask to move around the room • Make good decisions, do not interrupt discussion and lecture time • Sharpen pencils; get tissues at your discretion • Dispose of recycling and garbage at the end of class

  6. bell work procedure • Open your bell work section in your binder • Name, Class, Date on the paper • Answer the bell work questions as full statements • Organize your bell work so it is in chronological order (by date)

  7. Classroom Discussions • PLEASE participate • Put your hand up if you have a comment. I want to hear what you have to say. • Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion. • If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

  8. Listening to andresponding to questions • Sit in the learning position in your desk. • Eyes open and attention focused on the teacher. Avoid distracting behaviors (snoring, tapping, etc). • Raise your hand to respond to questions.

  9. Working in groups cooperatively • Move quietly to your group area • Turn your desk/chair to face group members • Participate in the group (speak/write) • Listen to other people’s ideas • Cooperate by letting others speak • Show eye contact so others know you are listening to them

  10. Collecting and Exchanging papers • Label your work with Name, Class and Date and pass the papers FORWARD. • The first person in the row will neatly organize the papers and hand them to me. • When marking assignments, students will pass their papers behind them. The last person in the row will bring theirs to the front of the row for marking.

  12. Quieting a class • When I need you to be quiet, I will clap a rhythm or strum a guitar chord. • You will need to be quiet immediately, without talking or being asked verbally.

  13. Washroom Breaks • Raise your hand to ask permission. • Keep your agenda open so the time that you leave can be written and the teacher can sign it. • No agenda, no washroom break.

  14. What Do I Do When I finish All My Class Work? • Work on unfinished Social assignments • Review/study your Social notes • Work on Social definitions • Read ahead in your textbook • Read a novel

  15. After an absence • Check homework missed on school website www.parksideschool.ca • Copy/print the homework • If you don’t have computer access come to me before school starts the next day. • Go and see each teacher; they will not come chasing after you

  16. If You Missed A Test? • You need to arrange a date with me. I will not track you down.

  17. Class Dismissal • The Teacher dismisses you, not the bell. • Do not start packing up prior to the bell. • Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you.

  18. Remember . . . To enjoy our year together • Try your best and make a reasonable effort • Come and see me if you have any concerns or problems with the course or what is happening at the school
