  2. ADOLPH HITLER • Born 1889 in Austria • Moved to Germany as a child. • After the death of his brother went from outgoing and confident to detached and morose. • Wanted to be an artist. • Became German nationalist to rebel against father.

  3. ADOLPH HITLER • Fought for Germany in WWI. Decorated but lacked leadership skills, so never promoted. • Temporarily blinded by mustard gas attack. • Furious at German capitulation.

  4. ADOLPH HITLER • Joined German Workers’ Party which was : • Anti-semitic • Nationalist • Anti-capitalist • Anti-communist • Became adept at speaking to large groups • German Workers’ Party  Nationalist Socialist German Workers’ Party
