  3. Muhammad Ali Jinnah • Founded Pakistan • Economic policy • Established independent currency • State Bank for Pakistan • Karachi became the capitol

  4. Quebecois Separatism • Quebec • Originally French colony • Surrendered to England • English Rule • Could keep religion, no gvt. Involvment unless protestant • Catholic and French Schools were banned • Quebec refused to send GB troops in WWI until they got “their schools back”

  6. Biafra Secessionist Movement • May 1967: Declared independence • January 1970: No longer independent • Mid 1960’s: Economic & Political instability • Educated Igbo minority revolted

  7. Biafra Secessionist Movement • 1968: lost seaports, became landlocked • Starvation and disease • International sympathy • Still uprisings, starvation, many deaths
