  1. Liquid Polymer Epoxy (LPE) Coatings SPC products for insitu rehab of pipeline coatings Jeevan MenonBSc,BE

  2. -Liquid Polymer Epoxy (LPE ) - Novalac Technology involves multiple controlled crosslinks of C-C atoms -In 3 Dimensions -No of crosslinks, Bonds and degree of bonding are “designed or Controlled “

  3. History of the company – 30 years developing and applying high performance coating systems for the world of pipelines, Pipeline Rehab, storage tanks, offshore platforms, petrochemical, ships, jetties and pilings.

  4. SPC products used to Rehab Over 200 km of 36 -42” in 1998 – 2000 insitu Transcanada Pipeline TCPL

  5. Two product versions : SP2888 (SP2889)– 80 C rated SP8888 (SP8889)- 150C rated

  6. Products Volume production Complicated Machinery Spray for plural Gun application SP2888 SP8888 Low Volume EPL Spray for standard Airless SP2889 SP8889 Simple machinery

  7. Spraying of small runs of Pipes , Using a standard airless gun (74 : 1 ratio or greater ) Kit is in 16 litres

  8. SP2889 , SP8889 (spray grade ) comes in 2 parts and is simply mixed and sprayed using a standard airless gun

  9. SP2889 SP8889 is mixed with a stirrer before spraying

  10. SP2889, SP889 uses a standard Airless Gun

  11. Rehab - spraying

  12. PTT Trial Pipeline rehab Thailand (Live Gas Line ) 16” x with SP2888 Using Plural gun technology May 2006

  13. The start of the pipeline rehab

  14. Exposing the Pipeline

  15. When the coating is removed there is evidence of corrosion and Pitting on the steel

  16. Thickness of Steel is measured before blasting

  17. After blasting the cleanliness is checked to achieve a class 2.5

  18. Product being sprayed onto the blasted Pipe in the trench

  19. Checking the DFT

  20. Test Results observed at Digup Typical steel (Pipe) Wall Thickness : > 6.25mm Chloride contamination < 100 ppm Typical Blast profile :> 70 microns Typical Blast cleanliness: Class 2.5 Typical coating Thickness –DFT : > 700 microns Typical Coating Hardness : Shore D. > 85
