  7. Textbooks • Louise G. White, Political Analysis: Technique and Practice, 4th. ed. • Michael LeRoy, Research Methods in Political Science: An Introduction Using MicroCase, 7th.ed.

  8. The LeRoy & Corbett Workbook • Should be brought to class for labs, and when otherwise requested by instructor • Contains access code for downloading Student MicroCase software, and several data sets. Thus, • It is important that you pay the appropriate license fee • You do this by buying a new textbook

  9. Conduct of Class • Class begins & ends at the stated times. • Please review the attendance policy stated in the syllabus and available on the course web site. • Written (paper and/or on the course Web site) information is important. Be sure to read & take seriously • Average of two hours outside of class for each hour in class

  10. In-Class Lab Sessions • These will be held regularly • The exercises in the LeRoy workbook (plus, perhaps, a few other things) will be done during these sessions. The instructor is under no obligation to accept exercises which are not done in the classroom during a lab session.

  11. In-Class Lab Sessions, cont. • I will make a good-faith effort to inform you by e-mail of specific dates, but there are no guarantees • You will need to bring your laptop. If you do not have a laptop, or if yours is unavailable for some reason, we can work it out
