  1. Town Hall Meeting Welcome to the 31st Fighter Wing Town Hall Meeting

  2. Rules of Engagement Raise your hand to ask a question and only one question at a time. Wait until you are given a microphone before asking a question. I will be available after the town hall meeting for additional questions once the live broadcast is completed. General Crime Trends • HN law enforcement indicate HN residents experience the same general percentile of break-ins/larcenies as US residents • For vehicle break-ins the main trend seems to be “thefts of opportunity” – usually involves valuables left in “plain sight” Note: 104 lost/stolen ID cards and Restricted Area Badges in CY08! We’re making it easy on the adversary!!!

  5. No Smoking Rules • Many non-smokers concerned with conduct of smoking community • No smoking within 50 feet of facility entrances • Includes all AF, AAFES, DeCA, NAF, DoDDS facilities • Dispose of your cigarette butts properly

  6. Black Marketing • Sale or resale of AAFES merchandise to unauthorized customers • Applies to both customers and AAFES employees • Punishment • Exchange privileges suspended or revoked • Employee separation • Government prosecution--recent cases in Korea led to prison sentences and fines >$750K

  7. Motor Vehicle Accidents • Every motor vehicle accident is one too many • The leading causes of major accidents: • Speeding or driving too fast for road conditions • Inattention • Failure to Yield or Stop • If you are in an accident and need help call the Law Enforcement Desk • 0434-30-7200; written on the back of your Wingman Card

Motorcycle Policy • Our motorcycle riding population is at greatest risk for fatality in an accident • Before you decide to purchase or operate a motorcycle get smart on additional requirements for riders • Motorcycle endorsement on your stateside license • EU certified helmet • Motorcycle safety foundation course • Mentorship ride • Award of AFI license with motorcycle authorization

Fire Safety News • Keep Fire Extinguishers in working order • Monthly checks • Know how to use • If You Have A Fire: • Call Aviano Fire Dept at 0434-30-8911 or (on base 911) • Italian Fire Dept at 115 • Fire Issues • Cooking oil is a top 3 cause of fires • Don’t overload your electrical outlets/power strips • Lighted candles unattended = increased fire potential • Smoking in bed or while sleeping is deadly!! Renters Insurance is a must to reduce your risk of loss

Tricare Dental Program (TDP) • TDP is for active duty family members, reserve component members and their families. • Cost: $11.58 for one family member, $28.95 for multiple family members. • Unique to OCONUS there are no cost shares for many covered services when visiting a participating provider. • Currently 10 providers practice in Roveredo/Pordenone • They meet standards set by the Department of Defense. • Please contact the 31st Dental Squadron @632-5060 for any questions

Financial News • Banking Update: • Community Bank (Area 1): Online banking; Auto-payments for rent…not for utilities • Banca Popolareaccount still needed for a Telepass and utilities • W-2 available on MyPay; contact Finance for pin resets • All Allotments can be done on MyPay (except Banca Popolare) • Finance/MPS need to know if your dependent status changes…if you have a baby or your dependents leave. It affects your pay! • SGLI: Important considerations when not electing max amount • Finance backshop operations transferred to Ellsworth AFB • Delays may be experienced in processing • Further question E-mail…FSO@aviano.af.mil (24 hour turnaround)

New Consolidated Support Center • Effective Jan 2009, multiple base offices relocated to Bldg 1413, CSC (Consolidated Support Center), of note… Public Affairs Base Testing Passports/Soggornios IG TMO (SATO in Mar 2009) Wing Safety Transition Office • Customer service improvements • Co-located with majority of installation’s customer service functions • Customers save travel time • Sign in kiosk to reduce wait time and provide reminders about information required—launch date 27 Feb 09

Library • Temporary library will be in Bldg 168 for the duration of construction • Bldg 168 is located in Area A1 next to CDC 1 • Construction is planned for approximately two years • Estimated construction start date is in first quarter FY10; transition to the temporary building will be complete by Sep 09

  18. Volunteer Center (B224) • Consolidating volunteer organizations in Area 2 • Red Cross • Boy Scouts • Girls Scouts • Thrift Store • Airmen’s Attic • Officers’ Spouses Club • Enlisted Spouses Club • Target date 1 Apr 09

Housing Improvements • Family Housing/Facilities • BTL - A/C Installations all completed, YOU can be comfortable this summer! • You asked for it and we’re listening! • A housing receptionist…Effective 1 Mar! • Coming Attraction: BTL school bus shelters programmed for FY09 & FY10 • Community Housing • Suitable units are good & plentiful, 4 BR units sometimes a problem • GPS available for use – sign out/return • Automated Housing Referral Network (AHRN) is planned for Aviano this year!

Recycling/Bulk Item Disposal • Continuous problem throughout local communities • Bulk items should not be placed by dumpsters, refuse contractor will not pick items up and area becomes unsightly • Residents can call numbers listed in their respective town’s recycling brochures to schedule bulk item pick up. Brochures can be located on housing web-site • Note: Commune’s of Aviano and San Quirino do not offer this service • Items must be taken to the Ecological Platform • New battery and expired medicine containers located by the Area1 shoppette

Flightline Dormitory ADSL • Service offered through Telecom Italia • On 1 Mar 09 Go To: Aviano Intranet and click on “Hot Items”– Click on “Telecom Forms” • Telephone Line (Number) Installation: € 96.00 (Cannot Have ADSL Without a Phone Line) • ADSL Installation is Free • Recurring Cost for Telephone Line a Month: € 14.57 • ADSL Recurring Cost a Month: € 20.00 (reminder: Telecom Italia bills every two months)

Italian Requirements • Soggiorno: Required for all US civilian employees and dependents • Office has moved to the Consolidated Service Center • First floor, first office on right • Codice Fiscale is now required for Soggiornos • Housing office accomplishes for member and spouse • Dependent under 18 yrs old?... must accomplish in Pordenone • Application, directions and map can be found on housing web-site under “useful resources”

  23. Base Shuttle Schedule Change • Effective 15 Jan 09, base shuttle run times: • 0615 – 0815 • 1115 – 1215 • 1515 – 1715 • Effectively meets primary ridership demand across the base • Contact 31 LRS Vehicle Operations Dispatch at 632-7666

Flat Screen TVs Less Than 60” • IAW HQ Surface Deployment & Distribution Command Directive, effective 28 Aug 08: • Crating will not be authorized for flat screen TVs with less than 60” diagonal! • Customers with flat-screen televisions must keep the original container for use in their next move • Contact 31 LRS Personal Property Section at 632-1709/5931/5844 for questions or further information

DoDDS • Kindergarten Enrollment Change for next school year: • Must be Age 5 by 1 Sep for Kindergarten • Must be Age 6 by 1 Sep for 1st Grade • Youth Center -- Kindergarten before/after school care coincides with DoDDs age cutoff—must be 5 by 1 Sep • Baseball • Practice starts on 2 Mar 09 • European Championships are 23 May 09 • Home game against Vicenza 9 May 09 • Ball Field Renovations planned

Swim cap and flip flops are mandatory! • Aviano Base Pool (Area 1): Opens 22 May; Pool parties, learn to swim lessons and lap swim available
