Readiness Standards • Encompass 30–40% of the eligible TEKS • Will make up 60–65% of the assessment • Defined as those TEKS considered critical for success in the current grade or subject and important for preparedness in the grade or subject that follows. • Supporting Standards • Encompass 60–70% of the eligible TEKS • Will make up 35–40% of the assessment • Will include other TEKS that are considered supporting and will be assessed, though • not emphasized.

  7. To graduate, a student must… • Achieve a minimum score on each EOC • Achieve a cumulative score in each content area > the number of EOCs taken in that content area x the passing scale score…

  9. Students with cumulative scores below the standard can retake any EOC assessment in that content area (not just the one they got the lowest score on), provided that they have met the minimum score on each. Biology Chemistry Physics

Minimum High School Program • For students on the minimum high school program, • the cumulative score requirement may vary by • subject area from 1 to 3 required assessments. • 3 for English language arts (English I, English II, English III) • 2 for mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry) • 1 for science (Biology) • 2 for social studies (U.S. History, World Geography or World History)

  11. Recommended High School Program In addition to meeting the cumulative score requirements in each of the four content areas, students on the RHSP have to perform satisfactorily on EOC assessments for: & Algebra II English III

  12. Distinguished Achievement Program In addition to meeting the cumulative score requirements in each of the four content areas, students on the DAP have to perform satisfactorily on the college-readiness component of the EOC assessments for: & Algebra II English III

  14. Fun Facts A student is not required to retake a course in order to retake an EOC assessment. A school district shall provide accelerated instruction to each student who fails to perform satisfactorily on an EOC assessment.

  15. School districts are NOT required to use student’s retest scores when calculating final grades. A student’s score on an EOC assessment will be worth 15% of the student’s final grade for that course.

  16. Satisfactory performance on an… Pre ACT AP IB SAT PSAT may be used as a factor when determining whether the student satisfies the cumulative score requirement.

AEA Accountability Procedures NCLB requires that all campuses, including AECs, are evaluated in the federal accountability system. • The state accountability system has the option of including AEA procedures designed specifically to evaluate AECs. Options include: • Use Same Indicators and Standards as Regular Campuses. • Use Same Indicators, but Different Standards, as Regular • Campuses • Develop Alternative Education Accountability Procedures
