  1. How to Suppport Your Children THROUGH GRIEF Give your child time and space Allowing your child to express their emotions in a healthy way should be done only when they are ready. Be honest It's best to be straightforward with them, explaining that when someone dies, they can no longer breathe, eat, or move, and that death isn't temporary. Stick to routines One way to accomplish this is to stick to your regular routine as much as possible. That could mean eating at the same time every day or going to bed at the same time every night. Encourage them to express their feelings Because many children lack emotional language skills, teach them emotional skills for children and encourage them to read books to gain a better understanding and create a scrapbook of old photos.
