  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge the conventions of real media? Media Coursework Evaluation Simi Kapadia Key: Use Develop Challenge

  2. Vibe Magazine Front Cover Eyebrow- Parts of the eyebrow are a particular colour to help parts of it to stand out There is no strapline underneath the masthead, to perhaps make the masthead look even more simple. Masthead- the masthead is simple and bold in one block colour, this helps it stand out and as it is a short name it has to cover the whole page. Main Cover line- the main cover line is bigger than the other cover lines making it obvious to the reader, it also involves a pull quote and it is associated with the main cover image Cover lines- They are bold and clear to make it obvious to the reader the main stories for this issue. The barcode and date line – is clear in the corner of the page, over laying the cover image. It also has the website on the side of the barcode Bribe- there’s a free iTunes download which may attract some readers Full Bleed image – a short shot of the artist with a certain facial expression, mostly serious looking, underlays the cover lines however overlays the masthead

  3. My Magazine Front Cover Eyebrow- Parts of the eyebrow are a particular colour to help parts of it to stand out like Vibe. Masthead- the masthead is simple and bold just like Vibe, therefore I have used their conventions. Cover lines- They are bold and clear to make it obvious to the reader the main stories for this issue. Main Cover line- the main cover line is bigger than the other cover lines making it obvious to the reader, it also involves a pull quote and it is associated with the main cover image –Jay Sean. Strapline- to emphasise the genre of the magazine. I also included the website in the strapline as it is in clear view for the reader to read. The barcode and date line – is clear in the corner of the page It also has the QR Code for smartphones on top of the barcode, with the date and issue number underneath.

  4. Vibe Magazine Contents Page Header – its clear and bold, involves the website Full bleed image- a studio image is used across the whole page. The facial expression of the model is quite unusual as it isn’t serious. As the model on the contents page is a famous artist, it may attract readers. Cover line/ titles – are clearly marked in bold to make it clear The numbers are consecutive making it easier to find a page Caption – showing where all his items of clothing is from and the photographer/models name

  5. My Magazine Contents Page Header – like vibe I have placed my header on the outside of the page with the name of the magazine and the page number. Social Links – As this will be the first page the open up to I thought it would be practical to have the magazines social network links. Title - unlike Vibe I enlarged my title to help it stand out. Caption- I decided to not have an individual caption for the image but instead have an arrow pointing to the image from the corresponding cover line Full bleed image- I used an image that I previously captured from one of his events, I then edited the surroundings so I just got himself and changed the background to help the image to contrast. Categories – each of the cover lines are categorized within the two categories. The numbers are consecutive making it easier to find a page

  6. Vibe Magazine Double Page Spread Headline- bold and clear, large font to enable to reader to see the title of the article. Colour scheme is coordinated with the image. Header - same header on the top outside corner with the page number. Also another header showing the ‘section’ of the magazine it is situated in Standfirst- it gives a brief summary on what the article is about By-Line- giving the writer of the article some credit Full Bleed Image- the image is what the article is about. This full bleed image is in black a white. Margins- to give column certain space from the outside of the page Gutters- to help space out the columns evenly

  7. My Magazine Double Page Spread Header - same header on the top outside corner with the page number. Also another header showing the ‘section’ of the magazine it is situated in Headline- bold and clear, large font to enable to reader to see the title of the article. Colour scheme incorporated with the text. Standfirst- it gives a brief summary on what the article is about Polaroid- to fill white space and a different dynamic. Full Bleed Image- the image is what the article is about. This full bleed image is in colour as it co-ordinates with the header (Superdry logo). Also unlike Vibe I have also added a caption. Margins- to give column certain space from the outside of the page Gutters- to help space out the columns evenly
