  3. Social Firms Scotland - Mission SFS exists to grow the Social Firm sector in order to increase employment opportunities for severely disadvantaged people. Our strategic framework • INFORMATION - To enhance understanding and awareness of Social Firms (our people, website, ebulletin, rich resources, research, mapping the sector) • MEMBERSHIP - To provide a high quality service that engages and benefits our members • POLICY INFLUENCE - To ensure that Social Firms are recognised as a solution to employability issues for severely disadvantaged people • SECTOR GROWTH - To lead and inspire initiatives to create an enabling environment that supports growth of the Social Firm sector • INTERNAL – To lead by example (a strong Board and investing in our people development)

A distinct type of social enterprise Characteristics > 50% of income from sales > 25% of staff who have severe disadvantage (individuals with disability, mental health issues, ex offenders, homeless, substance abuse issues) values are embedded in creating Enterprises that provide equal access to Employment that results in Empowerment of severely disadvantaged people Social Firms
