  4. Educational Development Plan You must do the following: Re-take the career interest survey Why??? This will be used for college searches and also for CCRESA, EISD, and Dual Enrollment. Re-adjust your four year plan Put in the classes you have this year and make any changes in your junior and senior years. Work on creating a resume. This needs to be done by end of semester!!!!

  7. Sophomore Year Tips The biggest mistake you can make sophomore year is believing that you know everything. Try to be more involved in school functions, clubs, and sports, Now that you've got your bearings, it will be much easier to do this. Don't slack off, teachers expect even more from non- freshmen.

  8. Work Habits Freshmen year was the foundation year! Sophomore year is building/improving upon the foundation that you established. That foundation consist of your: Study skills Organizational Skills Not afraid to ask for help Use Seminar – Math and Writing Labs, Seek out teachers that can help you. After school Success Center

  9. Goal Setting Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Timely

  10. Practice ACT Plan Test Date: October 17th You will go to your PRIDE class first thing (7:30) and remain there until 11:02. Discuss test and strategies. Objectives of ACT PLAN test: Application of what you know now to a testing situation and applying strategies. Practice timing of tests in preparation for the PLAN test on March 6th. After testing you will work on updating your audit sheet with courses completed and taking this year.

  11. PSAT October 20, 2012 7:30 – 11:00 (approx.) Step one in National Merit qualification Fee: $20 Consider if – 3.5 GPA or higher Limited spots available Will have to take again as a junior for the National Merit Qualification – Soph. year practice Can start to sign up Oct. 1st.

  12. Paradigms What are they? Paradigms are the way you see something – a perception. i.e. your point of view, frame of reference, or a belief. Paradigms of Life: Friend-Centered, Stuff-Centered, School Centered, Relationship-Centered, Parent-Centered, Enemy-Centered, Sports-Centered, etc. Principle-Centered is where you want to be! Let principles drive you – honesty, service, fairness, integrity, etc.

  13. 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Review: Habit 1 Be Proactive – You take responsibility and you have a “Can Do” attitude Habit 2 Begin with the End in Mind – Blueprint of the future i.e. college, work/career, classes next year. Having GOALS to get there! Habit 3 Put First Things First – Need to have discipline to: manage your time, overcome fears, and resist peer pressure. If you are one who procrastinates, is a slacker, or says yes to everyone, than you will have difficulty in reaching your GOALS.

YOU MUST LEARN TO SEE THINGS FROM ANOTHER'SPOINT OF VIEW (this would enable you to conquer this habit) • Habit Six: Synergize When two or more people work together to create a better solution Celebrating Differences, Team Work, Open-Mindedness, Finding new or better ways • Habit Seven: Sharpen the Saw or Me Time – Taking care of the Physical, Brain, and Heart of one’s body.
