  2. Quadratic Formula(Yes, it’s the one with the song!) If you take a quadratic equation in standard form (ax2+bx+c=0), and you complete the square, you will get the quadratic formula!

  3. When to use the Quadratic Formula Use the quadratic formula when you can’t factor to solve a quadratic equation. (or when you’re stuck on how to factor the equation.)

  4. Examples 1. 8b2 – 3 = 5b 8b2 –5b – 3 = 0 a=8, b=-5, c= -3 OR

  5. Examples 2. 3x2 + 8x = 35 3x2 + 8x – 35 = 0 a=3, b=8, c= -35 OR

  6. What if the square root is not perfect? You must factor it out and leave it as a root!

  7. Let’s try another! You must factor it out and leave it as a root!

  8. 4x2 + 4x – 9 = 0 3. 4x2 + 4x – 8 = 1 a=4, b=4, c=-9 Simplify! You must factor the root!
