  • For the region, inpatient admissions, as well as inpatient rates, have slowly decreased over the period.
  • For the region, Average Length of Stay is rising slightly. Median Length of stay fluctuates between five and six days.
  • UPMC and its affiliates hold the largest share of inpatient admissions.
  • Inpatient readmission rates have dropped slightly.

Allegheny shows the highest admission rate, with an average of 7.45 admissions per 1000 enrollees; however, the rate is declining. The rate is 4.19 admissions in the surrounding counties.

Allegheny has the highest ALOS with an average of 10.79 days. Of note, is Allegheny’s increase in ALOS over the last couple months. The surrounding counties have an average of 6.33 days.
