  2. before you read • Open up your Poetry Daily Work file and at the top of the document label it “The Highwayman”

  3. The Gentlemen of the road • Turn to page 357 and read "The Gentlemen of the Road” • On a half sheet of paper, answer the Test Practice questions on page 259. • We will be correcting and discussing these, so don’t turn it in.

  4. “The highwayman” • Think about what you learned in “Gentlemen of the Road”. • Preview the text: look at the pictures and the footnotes on 
the bottom of the pages (there are a lot of old English words, 
so this will be necessary for your understanding! • Skim and scan the whole narrative poem and make a 
prediction about this is about. • Make the prediction in your Poetry Daily Work file. • I think this poem will be about_________because_________.
