  1. Monday, October 10, 2011 Title – A Map of Maycomb EQ - How can I organize and remember all the detailed elements of TKM? Warm up - Go through chapters 6-10, looking for any new characters that are introduced, or new places that are mentioned. Write them down, and be prepared to share. Agenda – 1. Finish “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” 2. Ch 6 & 7 Quiz – 3rd block 3. Map of Maycomb, Chapters 6-10 Jigsaw - answer questions for your chapter - share/compare with your group - discuss as a class and add to Maycomb map Homework – Read Chapter 11 in TKM. Prepare for CH 8-9 Quiz

  3. Chapter 11 Dialectical Journals Question - “She was vicious. Once she heard Jem refer to our father as “Atticus” and her reaction was apoplectic. Cords of saliva would collect on her lips; she would draw them in, then open her mouth again.” (Page 142) Reflect - “This case, Tom Robinson’s case, is something that goes to the essence of a man’s conscience – Scout, I couldn’t go to church and worship God if I didn’t try to help that man.” (Page 139) Evaluate - “I wanted you to know what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyways and you see it through no matter what.”(Page 149)

Warm up - Review Chapters 6-9, write down at least 4 significant events in each chapter Agenda – 1. Finish Historical Study of 1930’s America 2. Finish the Treasure of Lemon Brown 3. Character Motivation: Scout, Jem, and Dill 4. Maycomb Map for Chapters 6-9 Homework – DJ’s for Chapters 8-9, Study for quiz on Chapters 6 & 7

He made it sound like you were runnin’ a still.’ Atticus sighed. ‘I’m simply defending a Negro- he’s name’s Tom Robinson… It’s a peculiar case…’” Reflect: Pg 101 “’Atticus, are we going to win it?’ ‘No, honey.’ ‘Then why-‘ ‘Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win,’ Atticus said.”
