Alfred Wegner. Alfred Wegner was the first to publish the theory that continents had somehow "drifted" apart. Yet, he was unable to provide a convincing explanation for the physical processes which might have caused the continents to drift apart. . Early Evidence of Plate Tectonics . ? 2. Alfred Wegner

    3. Early Evidence of Plate Tectonics ? Early Evidence of plate tectonics are Fossils of animals from one continent found on other continent.

    4. More Evidence of Plate Tectonics ? Fossils of plants from one continent were found on another.

    5. Continental Drift ? Continental drift refers to the movement of the Earth’s continents.

    6. ? Before continental drift, all the continents were connected as a super continent known as Pangaea.

    8. Extensional Faults One type of fault is the Extensional Fault. Extensional Faults consists of two plate tectonics pulling apart from one another.

    9. Compressional Faults Another type of Fault is called the Compressional Fault. Compressional Faults consists of two plate tectonics pushing together.

    10. Transform Faults The third type of fault is the transform fault. A Transform Fault consists of two plate tectonics traveling opposite directions going against each other but do not collide.

    11. Subduction Zones
