Seeing how they used different materials. I also had inspiration from other students.” Megan Clark

  6. FLEXIBILITY- “Throughout the trip we had to be more flexible, if we wanted to draw something at the museums where we couldn’t sit, or were in people’s way – we had to find a different way to draw eg. hold our sketchbooks on our hips, standing up, or take a photograph of it.” Ciara Devine

  7. Van Gogh Museum

  8. Van Gogh FOCUSING- “What I learned on the trip was to focus a lot, and also inspiration from the paintings and artwork there. In the Van Gogh museum you want to touch the thickness of the paint because the texture looked so amazing.” Maysa Hasan

  9. Conservation and Research • Van Gogh paintings seen under the microscope revealed a story, techniques and materials used.

  10. Stedelijk Modern Art Museum Recently renovated gallery showing contemporary arts in a wide range of categories. Old and new architecture working together in the new design

  11. CREATIVE THINKING, & INSPIRATION- “I had to try and look at the work in different ways, and to see what the artist thought or felt when they painted or made their artwork. Seeing how they used different materials. I also had inspiration from other students.” Megan Clark

  12. MAKING LINKS- “This trip was inspiring as I experienced lots of different styles and influences artists use. An important skill I used was making links. I recorded lots of information about what inspired the artist, and how this is shown in their work.” Jemima Wallis

  13. Anne Frank Museum

  14. MAKING LINKS, & REFLECTING- “From the Amsterdam trip there were a lot of links to other subjects, especially in the Anne Frank museum. At the end of the day I would reflect on what I had done during the day.” Constance Freeland

  15. Statue of Anne Frank amongst us all INSPIRATION- “Even if you weren’t in a museum, you used shop windows and buildings for inspiration.”

  16. A typical Dutch interior depicted in many famous paintings. Rembrandt’s House

  17. The science of mixing paints from pure pigments demonstrated as Rembrandt would have done

  18. PERSEVERENCE- “When we were in the Rembrandt House I found the ink print challenging, getting the detail onto the acetate, as we had to use a knife – but I overcame this and kept going.” Livy Goh

  19. Foam Photography Museum Photography gallery, showing a varied exhibition of work

  20. Exhibition of work by William Klein

  21. Tassen Museum – museum of bags and purses

  22. Canal cruise A great way to see Amsterdam; bridges, architecture and culture

  23. EVOLVING WITH OTHERS- “Throughout the trip my confidence has grown and I no longer compare myself to others as much. I overcame this at dinner when we had to show our favourite page (of our sketchbook) so far. At first I was hesitant because everyone was looking. However, in the end, I put my book on the table and I was actually quite proud of the drawing I produced. It is now my favourite piece.” Francesca Bartlett
