  2. Hello • We are doing this presentation on video cards. • You will probably hear about computer parts that you might recognize. • And it would probably be best for us if no one pays attention.

  3. Purpose • Connects in to mother board. • Is a pixel image translator. • Put pixels in order to create images on monitor. • Monitor plugs into the back so the video card sends up the image into Monitor.

  4. Advances in Technology IBM Video card started with just one color and 4KB of memory in 1981 with a graphics mode of only 640x200 and they’ve had extreme upgrades overtime. In 1990, IBM developed a video card with 65,536 and a resolution of 1024x760 and a memory of 4MB. GeForce, the top manufacturer, has been heavily upgrading their video cards, giving them new awesome applications. • First IBM PC video card, the MDA, was developed in 1981. It had a 4KB video memory and just one color. • The MDA was the first of several video cards to be released every new one having almost twice the capacity of the last. History

  5. Manufacturers • AMD (acquired ATI in 2006) • NVIDIA • Matrox • VIA Technologies • Intel There are several manufacturers. In the beginning the top VC supplier was IBM but as technology advanced more companies started arising with better products.
