  2. Extra Credit Anyone? Which of the following is true about Edgar Allen Poe? (if you are watching this at a later date, just send me the answers on e-mail) • Edgar Allen Poe was an alcoholic • Poe was found near death lying in a ditch in someone else’s clothes at a young age in Baltimore, MD. He died days after • Poe was raised by a foster family after both his parents passed away at a young age. • The first story Poe wrote was a romance novel • Poe lived in the South Bronx, NY for a period of time. • Poe married a considerably younger woman • Poe was dirt poor his whole life. His foster father left him nothing

  3. Part I: Reading Part 1 of the Project • Analyze two poems – “Annabel Lee” and“The Raven” • Complete Worksheet #1 • Having problems locating the worksheet, see Resources • Orientation, section A, pg. 15

  4. Part II: Listening • Choose either Annabel Lee or The Raven • Listen to the poem once • Read worksheet #2 • Listen to the poem again • Complete worksheet #2

  5. Part III: Writing • Write your own poem in the style of Edgar Allen Poe • Use the same mood and tone that Poe uses • Write about love, the supernatural, something scary or funny • It should be 15-20 lines and it should tell the WHOLE story

  6. Part IV: Speaking • Choose a stanza from the poem you wrote for part IV • Practice reading your poem • Read the resource I created about recording your voice GO FOR IT!

  7. How will you be graded? • Each part is worth 12.5 points. • The rubric can be found in the resources. • I will give you this sheet when I finish marking your work.
