Edgar Allan Poe, born in Boston on January 19, 1809, faced immense challenges from a young age after losing his mother and being separated from his siblings. Adopted by John Allan, he battled personal demons, including debt and alcoholism, which cut short his academic pursuits. Although he served in the U.S. Army and briefly attended West Point, his true calling emerged in literature. Poe's significant works encompass "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," and "Annabel Lee." Despite suffering personal losses, his poetic genius continues to resonate today, marking his lasting impact on American literature.
