  4. Question: • What will happen when both coke and diet coke are placed into a beaker of water?

  5. Hypothesis • I think that…

  6. Procedure • Place the regular coke into a large beaker of water. • Place the diet coke into the water.  • “Look surprised” 

  7. Observations

  8. Results • The can of Coke sank to the bottom of our beaker, while our diet floated. This all happened because the can of coke was more dense than water while the can of Diet Coke was less dense than water. • Let’s Prove It!!!!

  9. Density= M / V • The density of water is 1.0 g/ml. • Coke: • Mass= 196g • Volume = 155ml • Diet Coke: • Mass= 155.1 • Volume = 155ml

  10. Sugar Vs. NutraSweet • Sugar= 39000 mg of sugar next to approx • NutraSweet= 188 mg • A small amount of Aspartame is needed to make the Diet Coke sweet because it is so concentrated.
