AOP 2 Improvement of storm surge forecasting skill for coastal areas and warning services for urban area (UFRM)

  • To hold the storm surge workshop
  • RSMC-Tokyo will modify its storm surge model to produce storm surge distribution maps for TC Members and evaluate them. TC Members will provide bathymetry and tidal data archive to RSMC-Tokyo
  • To exploit and share the QPE and QPF techniques of the Members

  • Questionnaire on QPE/QPF techniques in TC Members distributed to Members by TCS. The results to be reported at WMO QPE/QPF workshop (Nanjing, Oct. 2010)

To exploit and share the QPE and QPF techniques of the Members

  • Suggestions for 2011
  • WGM to explore the possibilities to give technical advices in developing QPE/QPF techniques in the four pilot cities (Metro Manila, Hanoi, HatYai and Macao as nominated by the expert meeting on UFRM, Bangkok, July 2010) in view of reducing urban flood risk of each city, considering the results of the QPE/QPF questionnaire and WMO QPE/QPF workshop as well as the current situations of the each pilot city.
