  7. Muscle Contraction Nerves at the neuromuscular junction coordinate the overall movement of the gross muscle, such as a bicep. Go to http://www.physioviva.com/movies/vertebrate_innervation/index.html to view how muscles move with a variety of nerves ennervating the muscle and what happens when they all fire at once! Note the distance the muscle contracts for each “color” neuron. Why is it significant for all the neurons to fire simultaneously for movement?

  12. Muscle Twitch or “Fasciculations”(fas – sic –u- lay-shuns) The response of a motor unit to a single action potential is called a muscle twitch. Muscle twitch can be viewed when using an electromyogram.   14. Shaky Muscles! • Muscles “shake” when a larger force is applied (you lift something heavier than the muscle is use to) causing incomplete tetanus!
