  2. Highlight This seminar is to introduce the applications of adaptive acoustic beamformers and investigate DSP platforms in order to develop novel algorithms and produce a product e.g. a portable hearing aids. Tom Qi

  3. Applications – hearing aids Above hearing aids are produced by Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc. Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is used and Noise reduction by Voice Activity Detection (VAD) technology. Source: http://www.siemens-hearing.com/ Tom Qi

  4. Applications – hearing aids Completely-in-the-Canal In-the-Canal Behind-the-Ear In-the-Ear Source: http://www.siemens-hearing.com/ Tom Qi

  5. Real time DSP – Hearing aids Tom Qi

  6. algorithms An adaptive filter consists of a digital filter and an adaptive algorithm. The adaptive algorithm is used to adjust the digital filter’s coefficients to minimize the error of the adaptive filter output in respect to a reference signal according to certain criterion, for example, least squares error. Tom Qi

  7. Algorithms Noise reduction strategy for hearing aids Source: MajJ. B., Woutersb J., Moonena M., 2001, Evaluation of an adaptive beamformer for behind-the-ear hearing aids Tom Qi

  8. Algorithms Noise reduction strategy Source: Moir T.J., Real-time acoustic beamformer as a virtual instrument Tom Qi

  9. algorithms Voice Activity Detection (VAD) Source: Moir T.J., Real-time acoustic beamformer as a virtual instrument Tom Qi

  10. Process of product development After develop novel algorithms, producing products is desired. Tom Qi

  11. Tools introduction Tom Qi
