  1. Warm-up Wed. 5/30/07 • Draw and label the force-pair interaction that “pushes” you forward as you walk. • Draw & Label the force pair interaction that makes a car move forward. • Define “Work” in your own words • What does work measure?

  2. Physics REVIEW • FORCE • A force is a Push or a Pull • Measured in Newtons (N) • WORK • Work = (Force) x (Distance) • W = (N)(m) = Joules • W = Measurement of Energy

  3. Work Transfers Energy • Open your mousetrap. • Did you exert a force? • Did you exert a force over a distance? • Did you do WORK? • Did it take ENERGY to do this work? • Where is the energy now? • STORED in the mousetrap! • Can we use the stored energy for anything? • Discuss with your group & report back

  4. Take a Moment… • Write in your own words, How is energy stored in your mousetrap? • W = (F)(D) = Joules

  5. How might we be able to use this stored energy in a set mousetrap? • Discuss with your partner.

  6. Mousetrap Cars!

  7. Video • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKIj_tZgr34

  8. Check out your packet… • 2 Weeks • COMPETITION • 240 pts

  9. REVIEW PROJECT • What is a mousetrap car? • Project • Objective/Competitions • Materials/Construction • Grading TODAY: • Conceptual Physics Questions • Materials Brainstorm Tables
